Fantasies & Chansons ALCD 022 Peter Söderberg - lute LUTE MUSIC BY THE 16th century composer Albert de Rippe, is performed by the Swedish lutenist Peter Söderberg. The recording comprises 6 fantasias and 6 intabulations of chansons and madrigals, most of which have never before appeared on CD. Due to the complexity of his fantasias, and the boldness of his harmonic language, the works of de Rippe stand out as absolutely unique in the early 16th century lute tradition. Peter Söderberg, has devoted himself to the study and performance of de Rippe's compositions for a number of years. He also worked with this repertoire during his studies under Hopkinson Smith at Schola Cantorum Basiliensis.
